The Great Beguinage by candlelight is a unique experience. As the daylight wanes, the historic streets of this UNESCO World Heritage site come alive with the flickering glow of countless candles. Walking through the cobblestone pathways, one can't help but feel transported to a bygone era, where simplicity and spirituality intertwine seamlessly. The gentle illumination casts enchanting shadows on the ancient buildings whilst visitors are enveloped in a sense of tranquility as they wander, guided only by the soft light of the candles. Insite the church of Sint-Jan-de-Doper, visitors are drawn into a reverent silence, their spirits uplifted by the intimate dance of light and shadow. Our trip to Rome was absolutely fantastic! The city's timeless charm left us in awe from the moment we arrived. The rich history and architecture were nothing short of spectacular. Visiting the archaeological area of Ostia Antica was a true experience!
Strolling through the historic streets of Trastevere, we savored the most delicious Italian cuisine at quaint trattorias. The Vatican City was a spiritual and artistic masterpiece, with the Sistine Chapel taking our breath away. Rome's bustling piazzas, like Piazza Navona, were vibrant and full of life.
We couldn't get enough of the gelato and espresso that Rome had to offer, and the local wines were a delightful surprise. The city's romantic ambiance made the Trevi Fountain even more magical at night. We can't wait to return to this enchanting city.
Our 2023 summer holiday took us on an unforgettable journey to explore the stunning landscapes of the Peak District and the vibrant city of London. The trip began in the serene and picturesque Peak District, located in central England.
The Peak District greeted us with rolling hills, charming villages, and breathtaking views. We hiked along scenic trails (such as the Pennine Way and Eastern Moors), marveling at the dramatic rock formations (Mam Tor, Back Tor, Higger Tor, Stanage Edge). Chatsworth House, an opulent stately home, left us in awe with its grand architecture and beautiful gardens.
Next, we ventured to London, a bustling metropolis steeped in history and modernity. The iconic landmarks like Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and the Tower of London continue to surprise us with their architectural splendor and rich heritage. The West End's vibrant theater scene treated us to a mesmerizing musical performance.
Visiting world-class museums like the British Museum and the Tate Modern broadened our understanding of art and history. Strolling along the Thames River and witnessing the majestic London Eye lit up at night was a magical experience.

The Leuven Beguinage is a historical landmark that transports visitors back in time. This UNESCO World Heritage site, located in the heart of the city, was once home to a community of devout women known as Beguines.
Visiting the Leuven Beguinage when it's lit up with candles, creates a magical atmosphere. The narrow alleys and courtyards as well as the church of Saint John the Baptist are transformed into a serene and mystical place.
Walking through the Beguinage at night, you'll see the flickering of hundreds of candles lighting up the windows and doors of the Beguinage's houses. The streets are illuminated with warm light, casting long shadows on the cobblestones, and the air is filled with the sweet scent of burning wax.

Athens and The Peloponnesos 2022
Our covid-postponed family trip to Greece at last!
First to Athens where we visited the iconic Acropolis, the Ancient Agora, Lycabettus, the Plaka etc...
After exploring Athens, we headed out to the Peloponnesos to experience some of Greece's most beautiful landscapes. The region is known for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and rugged mountains. One of the most beautiful destinations in the Peloponnesos is the town of Nafplio. Here, you can stroll through the picturesque Old Town, visit the historic Palamidi Fortress, and enjoy the local food. The Peloponnesos offers several important archaeological sites. Mycenae, Messene, Olympia, ...
Finally, via Corinth and Delphy we concluded this fantastic roadtrip through Greece.
